MATTHEW 13:

1 That same day Jesus left the house, sat by the sea;

2 and gathered unto him great multitudes, so he entered a boat and sat; and all the people stood on the beach.

3 And he told them many things in parables, saying: Behold, a sower went forth to sow.

4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside and the fowls came and devoured it.

5 And some fell on stony places, where there was not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up because it had no depth of soil

6 But when the sun, burned, and they had no root, it withered away.

7 And some fell among thorns and the thorns grew up and choked.

8 But other fell into good ground and yielded fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty
by one.

9 Who hath ears, hear.

Verse 9 speaks this way because the Lord Jesus had not yet sent the Holy Spirit to teach in the custody of the words.
